We’re Running Out of Time
Liam Neeson is back at it, this time taking his action stardom on a plane. On a budget of 50 million, and grossing around $10 million on opening day. Let’s see if we should board this Non-Stop flight.
I Hate Flying
Bill Marks (Liam Neeson) a former cop with a troubled past, now a U.S. federal air marshal. His past still bothers him, which causes him to drink and smoke on the job. Marks’s new assignment is to watch over a non-stop flight that takes off from New York to London.
During the flight, Marks gets a text on his federal phone mentioning that someone will die on the plane in 20 minutes, if 150 million dollars isn’t wired to a bank account. We find out that that the bank account is under Marks’s name and it is one of the passengers that is doing this. Who is doing this to Mark? Why is this person trying to frame Marks? What is this person’s end game?
I’m Not Hijacking this Plane
Non-Stop has a strong set up. It doesn’t take too long to get going and start trying to guess what’s going to happen next. I’ll admit, when it came to the end, I was half right on my guess. So, I thought it was pretty fresh. Mystery on a plane.
The downfall of the film was the ending. Like I said before, the set up to the mystery theater is intriguing, but it was like they wrote themselves into a wall. Once they reveal the ending and the motive, it just wasn’t satisfying from all the build up.
Neeson does add to the build up of the mystery. A former cop, with a past, trying to figure out what’s going out. He did embrace his role. The other actors, did well including Moore. Don’t want to give too much away on the characters they played. The less you know, the better you would enjoy the movie.
I’m Trying to Save It
Non-Stop reminds me one of those mysteries, that you can pick up at a book rack in a gas station. It’s a fun read, but you probably won’t remember it later. The same with Non-Stop. It’s a fun film to watch, but it’s not memorable, especially with a weak conclusion. It did keep me wanting to guess. I say a matinee at the theaters.
Random Info I got from this File:
- Carry duct tape when smoking on a plane
- If you order a gin & tonic, you might get a water instead
- If you find a phone, don’t play with it
