Most Creative Kill

It’s a tie, eaten by a merman (is that how you spell it?), or being stabbed to death by a unicorn

The Killer(s)

It’s a facility that has random creatures from nightmares.  One of the staff members explains that these creatures are remnants of the old world, where the Ancient Ones ruled the earth.  So the facility, once a year have to manipulate 5 young adults into choose their death by summoning one of the creatures.  It’s different in every culture, but for America, there has to be a whore, an athlete, a scholar, a fool, and a virgin.  The whore must die first, and the virgin has the option to be killed or stay alive, as long as she has suffered, and everyone else in between must die.  This is a show and a sacrafice for the Ancient Ones who lives below.  If the task is not completed by the facility by a certain time, huge evil gods will rise from the ground and bring chaos to the world.  It sounds complicated, but it makes sense when you watch the movie.

What Happened to the Killers

The fool and the virgin escape the cabin and actually find the facility.  They get cornered by the facility’s security and releases all the nightmare creatures.  The creatures slaughter the facility, the fool and the virgin learn their faith.  The virgin attempts to kill her friend in order to save the world, but gets attacked by a wolf, while the fool fights the director of the facility.  The director gets killed by a redneck zombie, and Marty the fool saves Dana the virgin.  They both share a joint while the Ancient Ones rise up into the world.  The final shot shows a giant hand coming out of the cabin and then coming directly at the screen.

Horror Case Files Verdict

Is it game changer?  Definitely.  It keeps you guessing the entire film, and explains why some horror cliches happen all the time.  Like why do people have sex in the dark woods or why people split up instead of sticking together and fight as a group.  If you’re a horror fan you need to watch this if you haven’t already.  The movie is just creative and easily sticks out from the thousands of other horror films out there.  Something new and fresh was brought to the table.  The climax was a sight to see, watching various monsters slaughter the facility.  I am giving it a 10 because it did blow off my underwear when I watched it in the theaters, and it still blows off my underwear everytime I pop it into the DVD player (ya, I plan to get the Blu-Ray version).    It’s not perfect (it comes close), some of the effects could have been better, and I wasn’t a fan of the final shot.  Long story short, must watch, and it should be in your Blu-Ray collection.  I found out it’s currently on Netflix streaming also.

Random Info I got from this File:
  • A moose and a wolf looks the same when you’re stoned
  • Don’t read latin out loud
  • Unicorns are not always good
  • Don’t work in a facility with monsters
  • Giant evil gods likes to see a little boob action too
File Status: 10 out of 10
